BACH FLOWER REMEDIES

Bach-Flower-Remedies-wide.jpg

Bach flower remedies are dilutions of flowers developed by Edward Bach, an English physician and homeopath, in the 1930s.

Dr. Bach felt dissatisfied with the way doctors were concentrated on diseases and ignore the whole person. He aspired to a more holistic approach to medicine. He began collecting plants and in particular flowers. After extended work and years of research, he found one by one the remedies he wanted. Each was aimed at a particular mental state or emotion. He found that when he treated the personalities and feelings of his patients their unhappiness and physical distress would be alleviated naturally as the healing potential in their bodies was unblocked and allowed to work once more.

The remedies are intended primarily for emotional and spiritual conditions. There are 36 types of plants and different types of characters and tendencies in people. Lots of attention, love, dedication and listening skills are required in order to understand the patients needs.

Each remedy is used alone or in conjunction with other remedies, and each flower is believed to impart specific qualities to the remedy. Remedies are usually taken orally.

Bach thought of illness as the result of  "a contradiction between the purposes of the soul and the personality's point of view."  This internal war, according to Bach, leads to negative moods and energy blocking, which causes a lack of  "harmony," thus leading to physical diseases.

Bach remedies can be applied to children as well as adults and pets.
